  • I grew up in Port Neches, Texas, about 90 miles east of Houston. My wife and I were married in Houston many years ago. It was an unpleasant place to live in the 50s and 60s and must be far worse than that by now. You could not have payed me to live there at any time during the last 40 years.

  • I know little about Pawlenty, but of this I am certain: McCain and the neo-conservative Republican leadership deliberately lost to Obama; they punted the ball because they knew they had no one in their particular stable of liberals who could deal with the looming financial crisis.

  • Ah, Poppinmary...During the campaign, a highly intelligent, extremely liberal woman's magazine editor wrote an article (which I failed to save) about Palin after having spent an extended amount of time with her. She wrote glowingly of her wonderful intelligence and quick mind.
